ABOUT

ABOUT

We Believe

  • In the divine inspiration of the Bible (II Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; cf. Matt. 5:18).

  • In one God, who as One Divine Spirit, eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; I John 5:7; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 14:16-17).

  • That Jesus Christ co-equally co-existed from eternity with the Father (John 1:1). That He became flesh by being conceived supernaturally in the womb of the Virgin Mary (John 1:14; Luke 1:28-36). That He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father.

  • In the depravity of mankind. All of humanity is lost in sin and in need of a savior (Rom. 3:23).

  • That genuine repentance is commanded by God of all men and is necessary for forgiveness (Acts 2:37-38; Rom. 10:9-17).

  • That man is regenerated, justified, sanctified, and born again by faith in the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (I Tim. 1:15; Rom. 10:9-17; I Pet. 1:18-19; John 3:1-8; I John 1:9-22; Tit. 3:5-7; Eph. 2:8-9).

  • In water baptism by immersion, and that all who believe and repent should be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ after the Apostolic tradition and Biblical example (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:1-5).

  • In the baptism of the Holy Spirit subsequent to salvation, and in speaking in other tongues as the usual evidence of having received the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:9-13; Acts 2:1-4, 38-39; 8:14-17; 10:44-46; 19:1-6; Mk. 16:15).

  • In the divine institution of marriage; that it is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:5; Mk. 10:7), who as husband and wife commit to live in a monogamous relationship for love, procreation, and companionship (Prov. 5:15-19; Mal. 2:15; 1 Cor. 7:3-5), until death (Matt. 19:5-6; Mk. 10:7-9; Mal. 2:14-16).

  • That divine healing is promised to the believer (Mk. 16:15f; Ja. 5:14-15; Matt. 21:22), provided in the atonement (Isa. 53:1-5; Ps. 103:3; Matt. 21:22), and available through believing prayer (Mk. 9:23; 11:24; Ja. 5:15).

  • In the divine institution of the Church, the necessity of its fellowship, the value of its instruction, and the active participation of all its membership (I Cor. 12:12-27; Heb. 10:25; Acts 2:42; John 4:20-24; II Tim. 2:15).

  • In the divine ordinances. Those ordered by Christ: water baptism and the communion of the bread and cup (I Cor. 11:20-26; Matt. 28:19).

  • In a premillennial return of Christ for a ready Church (Matt. 25:1-13; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10; 12:1-5), a seven-year period of Great Tribulation, a literal return of Christ to earth at the battle of Armageddon, the binding of Satan, and a 1000-year reign of Christ on earth.

  • In the resurrection of the wicked and the just: the just to eternal blessedness and joy at the coming of the Lord (I Thess. 4:13-18), and the wicked to eternal fire and torment after the Millennium (Rev. 20:10-15).

  • That holiness of life is evidence of genuine faith (Heb. 12:14; I Thess. 4:7).

  • That the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as the fruits of the Holy Spirit should be in evidence and operation in the life of the believer (I Cor. 12:1, 7, 10, 28, 31; 14:1; Mk. 16:17-20; Gal. 5:22-23).

ABOUT FAITHFUL WORD ASSEMBLY

Over 40 Years of Spirit-Filled, Full Gospel, Non-Denominational Worship

Faithful Word Assembly is a non-denominational church in the Pentecostal/Charismatic tradition.

Founded in 1981 by Dr. Russell Tardo, Faithful Word Assembly began in a second-story storefront in Chalmette. After a year, the congregation moved to a church building in Arabi, where they stayed for nine years. Due to growth and the deteriorating condition of that facility, the church relocated to the former Chalmette Post Office building in 1990, renovated it, and remained there for six years. When the lease expired, the church, after much prayer and deliberation, decided to move to the Metairie/Kenner area, where a significant portion of the congregation was already based. They held meetings in hotels during 1996 and 1997 until settling in a storefront on Williams Blvd. in 1997. In April 2004, the church moved to its current location at 1401 Joe Yenni Blvd.

With an over 40 year history, Faithful Word Assembly has been led by its founding pastor, Dr. Russell Tardo, since its inception. The church operates independently, not governed, controlled, or subsidized by any other agency, individual, organization, denomination, or corporation.
